24 Hours of Pure Hell!

Wed 04 Jan 2012

And Lo! More than 24 hours have passed since noon on New Year's Day, and the Purple Fiend is now once again hidden away safely in the dank bosom of the Trident vaults. We need to give out a MASSIVE THANKS to those of you that donated to our humble cause. Because of you, there's a slightly greater chance for our work to invade the lives of festival goers across the world. Thanks also to anyone that followed, tweeted, emailed, told a friend or even just watched the film. After spending so much damn time on something, it's great to get it out there and have people enjoy it.

In the interest of shoving the film further down the gullet of the real world, we are now submitting to a bunch of festivals. If you happen to know of any upcoming film festivals that might enjoy our strange mix of stiff upper lip and extreme violence, please give us a shout.

Panrucker Industries have an exciting illustration-based contest up on their Facebook page. Render a thrilling picture and be handsomely rewarded for your efforts! The thrillingist image-smith will be the subject of a song written by Mr Panrucker, which he assures us will be "very, very heartfelt". Holy of Holies!

The contest ends on Friday 29th November at noon (GMT, I presume), so go get on it!

Good day! There's a lot going on for us right now. Perhaps one day I'll write about all that. For now, I wanted to tell you about the Sci-fi London 48 Hour Film Challenge. This weekend, we will be competing in the Sci-fi London 48 Hour Film Challenge, a contest wherein brave men and women compete against time itself to create a short film within a mere two days. We will be trying to tweet during the ordeal and keep you up to speed on our various failings.

Wish us luck.

So TF London was a lot of fun. Our eternal gratitude goes out to the people at the Screen On The Green for allowing us to desecrate their green and pleasant land. We hope that everyone involved had a good time.

In additional news, the site has been given a slap of bright green paint. Blood splatter is so 2009, darling.

Let me tell you buddy, film-making can be fucking radical. Through fierce endeavour, one's darkest dreams can be given life. Words written on napkins or drunkenly spat from your wretched mind can be squeezed into 414720 pixels and shat onto visual display units the world over and your life is given worth and meaning as a result.

In other situations, film making can be a massive thrashing hell. You dig too deep into the trenches of your mind, constructing dreams too grand, designs too daring. You sweat and make, but no matter how many hours you throw into the god damn project, it just doesn't work out. The bloated, impossible shell of the film taunts you for eternity.

One such uncompletable effort was known to us as Inheritance. An epic blockbuster on an unprecedented scale, it proved too much film for us to make, and for years the couple of minutes of footage we did shoot sat on various hard-drives scattered around the country like the body parts of treasonous plotters.

Then, with a public screening rapidly approaching and no new content to show, we hit upon the idea of crafting this dormant footage into something we could use to fill a couple of seconds. The result was this video, a trailer for a movie that almost killed us, a film that will never be.

Retrospective fun and purple peril

Mon 19 Jul 2010

Thanks to anyone that attended the retrospective on Friday. It was a bit rough around the edges, but we had a bloody good time, and hope that you did too.

For the last several months, members of PT have toiled late into the night to film a huge new project, which we can now reveal to you in part. If gaudily coloured kung-fu detective movies are your cup of tea, you should have a gander at this preview of Carl's thrilling new epic, THE PURPLE FIEND.
